Field of Artisans truly understands and appreciates the time, energy and heart behind each application. Below are a few reasons why an application may not be accepted. We hope this guides you to make your application the strongest it can be so that it accurately communicates your work and creativity to us.
Dead End links
-If a Facebook, Instagram, Etsy or website link is broken, incorrect or leads to a private page, we are not able to see your work. Double check links. We aren’t able to investigate why a link isn’t working.
-This goes for emails too. Oftentimes an email address is missing a letter and an acceptance email bounces back to us. We do our best to find the correct email. But this takes time and we aren’t always able to correct. Double check your email address!
Underdeveloped Social Media
-If your Facebook, Instagram or Etsy has only two photos, we aren’t able to accurately assess your aesthetic, technique and work. Make sure your social media represents what you do if you send us the links. If you don’t have a social media presence, use the “email photos” option.
-Private Instagram accounts do not allow us see your images.
Photos
-Whether you’re emailing photos or posting them on your social media, keep in mind that the photo portion of your application holds a lot of weight! Blurry photos, dark photos, photos with other items other than your work, do not exhibit your work in a good way.
Descriptions
-Use these spaces to explain what you make, your techniques, your aesthetic and overall what sets your work apart. A couple of words or one sentence, doesn’t do that. We also use your application to create promotional content for you and one sentence makes that difficult.
Categories
-Some categories are more competitive than others, specifically jewelry, DIY/hot trend techniques and 2D. In order to curate a varied event, we take care to not over saturate categories and unfortunately cannot accept all. Use your descriptions and photos to set yourself apart. We are always looking to incorporate unique and original work.
-Because we are primarily an “art market”, there are a few categories that we don’t accept or accept very few of. At this time, we do not accept vintage vendors. We appreciate the creativity behind curating vintage but this time it doesn’t fit in with the flow and mission of Field of Artisans. Food vendors will sometimes be accepted if it is appropriate for a particular market. However food vendors must have all of the necessary licenses from the dept of health.
-If you are applying for the skincare or bath/body category, we look for creative/artistic packaging and due diligence in formula creating.
Some Don’ts
We do not accept applicants after the below has happened. If you believe there is miscommunication or confusion, the best thing to do is communicate with us in a calm and kind manner.
-No-Show: It takes a lot of work to curate a lineup that is varied, original and with flow. A no-show leaves a hole in the lineup and causes artisans to have to move after setting up. A simple email or phone call if it’s last minute will solve many things for the organizers and artisans and not result in a strike against your name. Life happens, we get it! We just ask for communication.
-Leaving Early or Arriving Late: Unless you have previously arranged with Field of Artisans, an unexpected late arrival or early departure disrupts the market. Market times have been advertised and we want art appreciators to know that they well find a professional and organized market without holes during the times advertised. Late setups and early breakdowns break the flow and affects everyone involved. If we know ahead of time, we can work the layout in a way that the flow will not be disrupted.
-Failure to follow tax requirements. Please just follow the requirements so that we can get to the fun stuff!
-Negativity. A huge part of the curation process for Field of Artisans is vibes. “Consider being the type of energy that no matter where you go, or where you are, you always add value to the spaces and lives around you.” <3
